The Marine Corps is moving forward with plans to arm V-22 Osprey aircraft. Warrior Maven, a web site dedicated to military news, reported July 6. The armament would configure the aircraft so that they could fulfill combat assault and armed escort missions. Weapons systems under consideration include Hydra 2.75-inch laser-guided rockets, as well as .50-caliber and 7.62-millimeter guns, Warrior Maven reported. Any such systems would require more testing before they would be ready for use, according to the report.
