For the first time since a collision in the Straits of Malacca killed 10 sailors and injured scores of others in August 2017, the guided-missile destroyer John S. McCain has re-entered the water. Navy Times reported that the ship was moored to the pier at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan, its home port.

Seapower magazine reported that McCain still would perform tests and demonstrations of its shipboard systems – to include navigation, damage control, mechanical and electrical systems, combat systems, communications and propulsion application before returning to normal operations.
