Service members, family members and other beneficiaries of the military health-care system who have fully recovered from COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) are encouraged to donate plasma to treat those who are still stricken with the disease. The Defense Health Agency (DHA) is working to fulfill a Defense Department goal of obtaining 10,000 units of the plasma by Sept. 30. Prospective donors can step forward at stateside and worldwide centers operated by the Armed Services Blood Program, or through scheduled mobile collection drives.
Prospective donors should have been tested as positive for COVID-19 and its antibodies, and be symptom-free for two weeks. They can donate whole blood every eight weeks, or plasma more frequently.
