The Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program gives qualified Navy enlisted men and women from all ratings a chance to earn an entry-level nursing degree followed by an appointment as an Ensign in the Nurse Corps. Sailors receive full pay and benefits of their current pay grades while attending school in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Students may use their Montgomery G.I. Bill as well as other outside financial assistance to pay for schooling. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and have completed at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of undergraduate courses accepted for transfer toward a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants must also have taken the SAT within the past three years, with a recommended score of 1,000 to be competitive.
