The Defense Department is considering the transfer of detainees held at Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba, to two U.S. facilities, NBC News reported. While the plan is nowhere close to being firm, a Pentagon spokesman told NBC that the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and the brig at Charleston Naval Station, S.C., are likely candidates. Some of the 116 detainees held at Gitmo could be transferred to facilities in other countries, according to the report.
