The National Personnel Records Center (NRPC) in St. Louis has shut down, due to a significant increase in COVID-19 cases. The center, which is the repository of millions of military service records, will be operated by a skeleton staff. They will continue to process emergency requests related to medical treatments, burials, and admittance to shelters for homeless veterans. Non-emergency requests – for replacement medals, administrative actions and records research – are suspended until normal pre-COVID operations can resume. The center’s web site provides alternative links to sites that may be of use for service members and veterans who are seeking specific information that its staff cannot currently address.
