The chief of Naval Sea Systems Command says the next-generation guided-missile frigate could cost $950 million per ship. Speaking at the 2018 Surface Navy Symposium, program manager Regan Campbell said the cost would apply to the second through 20th hulls in the class, the U.S. Naval Institute (USNI) reported. The first vessel would cost more. In comparison, the price tag for the Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer is roughly $1.8 billion to build and equip, and the Freedom- and Independence-class littoral combat ships cost about $558 million per hull, USNI reported.
