Spouses now will have a better chance to maintain and even enhance their career opportunities. The 2021 defense-spending bill contained a provision that expands the existing My Career Advancement Account Scholarship (MyCAA) program. The enhancement allows spouses to use MyCAA to obtain continuing-education credits and to complete national testing by the end of September.
“The expansion will help clear a new path for military spouses to advance in their careers while contributing to the financial stability of their families,” said Patricia Montes Barron, the assistant Defense secretary for Military Community and Family Policy.
With MyCAA, spouses can get up to $4,000 to use for costs associated with licensing, certification, and associate degrees.
