The Army’s new unit stop-loss program allows exceptions for some Soldiers. According to the Army, this may include active-Army Soldiers who: are eligible for mandatory retirement; are eligible for disability retirement, separation for physical disability or other physical conditions; are pending separation for the convenience of the government such as surviving sons and daughters, parenthood or pregnancy; are pending separation because of dependency or hardship; are in violation of the Army’s homosexual conduct policy; are pending separation as conscientious objectors; do not meet military personnel security program standards; and Soldiers whose quality of service warrants separation.
