The Space Force intended to proceed with a scheduled March 26 launch of an Advanced Extremely High Frequency satellite – the sixth of its kind – despite concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. Air Force magazine quoted Brig. Gen. Douglas Schiess, commander of the Patrick Air Force Base, Florida-based 45th Space Wing, as saying that the launch would not be affected by precautions now in place. The satellite would provide troops with better real-time transmission of maps, command communications, and other data.
