The Pentagon has issued new guidelines that address travel restrictions during the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic. The changes apply to all Defense Department installations with more than 1,000 assigned personnel. They are:

* Step 1, which takes effect at installations that meet state and country re-opening criteria, to include a 14-day declining trend in symptoms and cases, and no stay-at-home order in effect.
* Step 2, which entails meeting installation criteria. This includes no travel restrictions, HPCON (Health Protection Condition) below Charlie, availability of essential services, and quality assurance in place for movers.
* Step 3, in which a chief medical officer, secretary of a military department, or CCMDR has approved lifting travel restrictions at an installation.
