The Trump administration is calling for a total Army end strength of 1.2 million soldiers by 2022.
According to the Congressional Budget Office, this would require an increase of 170,000, the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) reported Dec. 5. Regular Army strength would increase by 13 percent, with both the Army Reserve and National Guard each gaining 20 percent more soldiers. In contrast, the other services would see a combined increase of 67,000 during the same time period.
