Veterans who were wrongly charged fees for their government-sponsored home loans will be getting refunds. The Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it will issue more than $400,000 in refunds that were collected incorrectly for nearly 20 years from as many as 130,000 veterans. In most cases, the overcharges stemmed from clerical errors. Other veterans were charged the fees because their exemption status changed when they received disability ratings after their loans had closed. Veterans who believe they are entitled to refunds should contact their regional VA loan center at 877-827-3702.
