Sometime next year, some veterans who are challenging decisions made by the Department of Veterans Affairs will be able to make their case via virtual hearings.
Using the tele-health platform now managed by VA’s Veterans Health Administration, the Board of Veterans’ Appeals promises offer veterans the opportunity “to participate in secure, confidential virtual hearings”from their homes.
Access would be available through personal computers and mobile phones via the VA Video Connect app.
VA began test runs of virtual hearings in July, and has held 155 successful hearings since then, garnering praise from veterans service organizations and other advocates.
“Veterans who otherwise would have had to cancel their hearings were able to participate in virtual hearings and receive decisions,” VA said in an announcement.
