The Department of Veterans Affairs is joining with the Labor, Homeland Security, Justice and Defense departments, the Navy, and other entities to improve free legal services for veterans who cannot afford to pay for them. VA now offers free legal advice at 170 facilities across the country, including medical centers and community health clinics, as well as groups and clinics that focus on legal aid. Together with another organization, the Veterans Pro Bono Consortium, these groups help needy veterans with help resolving eviction, foreclosure, child support, housing and medical treatment – in addition to resolving claims issues with VA itself.
