Calling all cybersecurity professionals interested in supporting the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) mission to prevent attacks against our country! The DHS Cybersecurity Talent Management System (CTMS) has launched. The goal of CTMS is to modernize the hiring of cybersecurity professionals for mission critical roles at the DHS Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

The new CTMS includes different specializations, known as technical capabilities, including: cybersecurity policy; cybersecurity program management; cybersecurity architecture; cybersecurity data science; cybersecurity defensive operations (intelligence collection and analysis or planning, execution, and analysis); cybersecurity engineering; cybersecurity research and development; cybersecurity risk management and compliance; cybersecurity threat analysis; digital forensics; mitigation and response; physical, embedded, and control systems security; secure network operations; security system operations and maintenance; and vulnerability assessment.

There are other important advantages to CTMS as well:

New, Streamlined Hiring Processes

· Applicants complete customized applications based on their skills and professional interests, without unnecessary steps.

· Applicants participate in competency-based assessments, including real-world simulations, to demonstrate their ability to perform cybersecurity-related work.

New, Competitive Compensation Structures

· DHS Cybersecurity Service employees receive competitive salaries based on their demonstrated skills and expertise. Salary increases and other incentives are driven by employees’ impact on the DHS cybersecurity mission. The pay scale under CTMS goes beyond the typical GS pay scale.

New, Meaningful Career Development Opportunities

· DHS Cybersecurity Service employees have access to regular training and professional development opportunities designed to increase career exposure and further refine specialized skills in alignment with their interests and career goals.

While the initial launch of CTMS is focused on CISA and the DHS CIO, it will be expanded to other DHS Components in 2022. Another program that focuses on cybersecurity positions with DHS  managed through the DHS Secretary’s Honors Program to recruit talented recent graduates.
