The Air Force has streamlined its process for transferring
its civilian employees–in military lingo, “permanent
change of station”–by having them prepared at the central
Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, Texas.
The Air Force says that by eliminating extra steps in the
process, the center has shortened the time considerably
for employees to get their needed papers. Managers also
can help expedite the process, the Air Force added, by
“quickly negotiating a realistic reporting date and
returning information forms promptly.”
The center’s goal is to produce orders within seven days
after receiving the necessary documents, a goal it
consistently surpasses, the Air Force says.
