Customs and Border Protection has committed to implementing the “30X30” initiative in which law enforcement agencies aim to increase the percentage of women in their workforces by 30 percent by 2030.
“Our pledge to join 30×30 is part of a larger framework for our agency to improve the recruitment, retention, representation and experiences of women officers and agents. Working with 30×30 will also help us identify, understand, and address the obstacles in recruiting and retaining more women in law enforcement positions,” an announcement said.
CBP is the first DHS component agency to commit to the program. Women account for about 22 percent of its 63,500 employees, according to OPM data.
