Federal Manager's Daily Report

The IG’s office at Veterans Affairs has said it found no merit to a complaint alleging that the department’s security and investigations center was inappropriately issuing personal identity verification cards and granting VA network system access to individuals who did not have completed background investigations or adjudicated fingerprinting.

That office processes and adjudicates the background investigations for all moderate- and high-risk public trust and national security positions for employees within VA, as well as for all levels of investigation for contractors working in the department.

Auditors said they did not find any instances of improper issuance of cards or improper access to VA network systems, and that in a sample of 32 cases, each met the standards for authorization.
