Federal Manager's Daily Report

The council of IGs will hold a conference July 11 to mark the 40th anniversary of the Inspector General Act, which established those offices as independent entities within what is now a total of 73 departments and independent agencies involving 14,000 employees.

“Inspectors general have had a profound impact on the U.S. government. Their independent oversight brings to bear incontrovertible improvement in federal programs, and continues to reveal instances of fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct,” said Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department IG, who also chairs the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency.

Sessions at the conference, to be held at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center, will include prominent IG advocate Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, IGs, academics and others in the oversight community. Registration and other information is at ignet.gov.
