The Federal Aviation Administration has announced the initial
details of a new Air Traffic Organization “business structure,”
which it says will consolidate air traffic services, research
and acquisitions, and Free Flight Program activities.
It said the ATO will consist of five service units: En Route
& Oceanic; Terminal; Flight Services; System Operations and,
Technical Operations; and will include five staff-level
business groups: Safety; Communications; Operations Planning;
Finance, and Acquisition and Business Services.
ATO will identify ways to improve performance and reduce the
cost of air traffic service activities and programs and
