Federal Manager's Daily Report

A consortium of research laboratories across the government has launched a new online feature designed to stress to the public the everyday applications of their work, part of the President’s Management Agenda’s “lab to market” cross-agency priority goal.

About a third of the annual $150 billion in federally-funded research is performed in the government’s own laboratories, a notice on performance.gov says, calling attention to the LabTech in Your Life Virtual Experience, created by the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer.

The interactive site is in the form of a tour of a home, with more than 50 products that resulted from federal research highlighted and explained—ranging from instant mashed potatoes to GPS tracking and from smart phone time clocks to mosquito traps.
