The House Oversight and Reform Committee has approved additional funding over the next 10 years for electrifying the federal vehicle fleets and improvements in agency cybersecurity, IT and more.

The action is in response to the recent approval by both the House and Senate of budget outlines that assign spending targets to Capitol Hill committees, with their actions to be combined into one bill for further voting.

According to the committee, the measure includes:

* $5 billion to the GSA and $2.4 billion to the USPS to transition to electric vehicle fleets, including costs of building the needed infrastructure for those vehicles.
* $2 billion for the Federal Citizen Services Fund to improve federal cybersecurity and $1 billion for the government-wide Technology Modernization Fund.
* $350 million for information technology oversight and reform initiatives at the Office of Management and Budget.  This includes the U.S. Digital Service, which supports critical technology projects like the upcoming Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool.
* $50 million to the National Archives and Records Administration to “address backlogs in responding to veterans’ requests for military personnel records, improve cyber security, improve digital preservation and access to archival federal records, and address backlogs in Freedom of Information Act requests.”
* $10 million to the USPS for capital improvements to “start the process of making needed infrastructure improvements to ensure that Postal Service workers have a safe environment in which to serve the American public.”
* $15 million to the GAO to perform oversight of implementation of the administration’s Justice40 Initiative to direct that 40 percent of the overall benefits of grants, direct payments, procurement of goods or services and certain other forms of government spending flow to historically disadvantaged communities.
* $10.7 million to the inspectors general of GSA and the Postal Service for oversight of their respective fleet electrification funding.
* $5 million to GAO for general oversight of the funds provided in the bill.
