Federal Manager's Daily Report

Long-running issues of government management including improper payments, upgrading IT and improving agency performance remain on GAO’s list of high-priority tasks facing OMB.

A report says that 152 recommendations from prior reports on OMB remain open and that of 31 deemed high priority, only six have been closed since a similar assessment last year. Two of those addressed improper payments, two category management and one each on grants management and combatting fraud.

GAO meanwhile has added 10 others, bringing the unresolved total to 35, including further steps to reduce improper payments.

Others fall into general categories of program management; spending transparency including improving data accuracy, completeness, standards and consistency; IT acquisition management and costs; information security; controls for disaster relief; financial management; and collection and coordination of data on sexual violence.
