Federal Manager's Daily Report

GSA and Energy have jointly issued a request for information for next-generation building technologies that “have the potential to improve the operational efficiency of federal and commercial buildings, and provide a solid return on investment,” as a GSA announcement put it.

The RFI seeks information on technologies that are nearly ready for commercial use, or in the early stages of commercial application, for evaluation through the GSA’s Proving Ground program and Energy’s High Impact Technology Innovation Catalyst program.

“Selected technologies will be matched with federally owned buildings and/or commercial buildings, for third-party measurement and verification. Project results are intended to help validate the technical and operational characteristics of the technology and its potential for future deployment,” GSA said.

Specifically, the agencies are seeking technologies in the areas of resiliency and energy efficiency, and those that “either help operators better understand when buildings are not functioning within operational or design parameters, or dynamically correct these faults without operator intervention.”
