Federal Manager's Daily Report

The IG’s office at the GSA has said the agency “has taken appropriate corrective actions” to address the recommendations of a 2015 report critical of its oversight of environmental risks in the federal buildings it oversees.

That report concluded that GSA’s Public Buildings Service did not have a system in place to effectively monitor environmental management risks; had not conducted environmental compliance audits on its entire owned building inventory and lacked policy and guidance for such audits; did not have consistent environmental management practices across PBS regional offices; and left unclear who was responsible for environmental management in tenant space.

The new report said that in the time since, the GSA has taken actions including developing a system to collect environmental risk data; ensuring that risk audits are conducted at each PBS facility; establishing and enforcing consistent environmental practices across its regions; and incorporating environmental management responsibilities into tenant agreements.
