The House has passed a series of bills aimed at increasing transparency of federal agency operations including:
HR-1582, setting standards for preservation of agency electronic records.
HR-1608, to increase the transparency of federal advisory committees.
HR-1654, to make the Federal Register more readily accessible online while ending a requirement that agencies send paper copies of documents they publish in it.
The House also passed HR-1271, to create a three year pilot program in at least five Veteran Health Administration medical centers to give undergraduates enrolled in pre-health programs the opportunity to gain clinical observation experience in hopes that it will interest them as a career.
