Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Postal Service IG is encouraging postal employees, mailers and the general public to continue using its hotline, saying that it takes such tips seriously and that they have resulted in substantial findings.

Tips commonly focus on fraud, waste of funds or resources, mail theft, and other postal crimes but they also include charges of misconduct; violations of laws, rules, or regulations; and danger to public health and safety as related to Postal Service programs and policies, employees, and contractors

One recent audit that was spurred by such a tip confirmed that some cardholders were making purchases without proper approval, did not maintain accurate and complete records to support their purchases, and that management did not adequately oversee purchases and payments.

All complaints are reviewed by analysts and those that concern matters not in the IG’s realm are referred to the proper offices, such as the customer service branch, it added.
