Federal Manager's Daily Report

Companion bills offered in the House and Senate (HR-7107 and S-3896) would increase the information available on politically appointive positions in agencies and who currently is holding those positions.

The bill seeks to build on the current resource, commonly called the “Plum Book” which lists those positions but is updated only once every four years.

The measure would require:

* OPM and GSA to develop and maintain a publicly accessible website with data on senior leaders in government that meets modern data standards;

* that agencies report data similar to that currently published in the Plum Book, such as the name of the individual, name of the position, agency and component, geographic location, and type of position;

* that agencies provide data on a monthly basis to OPM to be published in the directory; and

* that OPM coordinate with the White House on a semiannual basis to confirm that information is complete, accurate, reliable, and up-to-date.
