The Merit Systems Protection Board has announced that it is
moving ahead with its plans to close its Boston and Seattle
field offices by March 31, 2004 in order to consolidate
operations. The Denver and New York offices, once also
considered for closing, will remain open, it said.
The decision to keep the Denver office open was based in
part on recent developments regarding the Department of
Homeland Security personnel system giving employees the
right to appeal to MSPB, according to a memo. No other
offices are being considered for accelerated closure at this
time and MSPB is updating its regulations to reflect the
revised regional jurisdictions.
