Nominations are being accepted for one of the more prominent awards granted to federal employees by an outside body, the Arthur S. Flemming Awards. The Flemming Awards honor outstanding young men and women in the federal government who have, as of December 31, 2003, at least three but no more than 15 years of government service.
Twelve separate awards will be made in three categories — scientific, administrative and applied science. Four awards will be given to individuals in each of the following fields: science/technology, administration/executive and information technology. Nominations must be submitted in only one category or field.
The 2003 nomination form is now available at http://www.gwu.edu/~flemming/. Deadline is February 16, although agencies may impose earlier deadlines for applying for such awards if the nominations have to clear awards review boards or similar bodies.
