As part of a government wide crack down on non-accredited
or bunk credentials in federal hiring and advancement, the
Office of Personnel Management is repeating last summer’s
diploma mill seminars in the month of May.
OPM said it is revising employment and background
investigation forms so as to distinguish between accredited
and non-accredited institutions, and that it has also
authorized additional staff for its center for federal
investigative services, which would have an adjudication
role and conduct follow-up services on personnel
background investigations regarding questionable
academic credentials.
OPM will hold seminars May 5 and May 7 at its Washington
headquarters to train additional federal HR and personnel
security staff and re-train OPM staff engaged in
evaluating job applications for other federal agencies.
