Public Service Recognition Week is May 7-13, an annual opportunity to highlight the value of government service on the federal, state and local levels.

A focal point of the week is the naming of finalists for the Service to America Medals, or Sammies, by the Partnership for Public Service.

The Partnership’s suggestions for involvement include: reaching out to local schools by hosting a presentation, organizing a poster or essay contest of holding a job shadowing day; speaking to local schools and civic groups about the federal workforce and its role; writing letters to the editor or op-ed articles for publication in local newspapers; sponsoring events open to the community with representatives of multiple agencies to demonstrate their programs; and more.

Further information is on the Partnership’s site.
