Federal Manager's Daily Report

With this week being Public Service Recognition Week, finalists for the annual “Service to America Medals,” or “Sammies” award, have been announced, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at NIH.

Fauci, who recently has become perhaps the best-known federal employee due to his role in the Coronavirus pandemic, and five others are up for the Paul A. Volcker career achievement award. Other categories are safety, security and international affairs; emerging leaders; management excellence; and science and environment.

There will be a livestream webcast at 7 pm Eastern time on Thursday (May 7) highlighting their work. Winners are named in the autumn.

Details on the finalists—some of which are teams—a link to sign up for the livestream and suggested activities for Recognition Week are at https://ourpublicservice.org.
