Federal Manager's Daily Report

The IG’s office at the Postal Service has said it is looking into unauthorized release of employees’ personal information, following the release of an unredacted security clearance application of a former postal employee who is now running for Congress.

The IG audit comes at the request of several members of Congress following release of that information by a political action committee opposing her candidacy.

“We will evaluate the Postal Service’s past and current processes for disseminating employee information in response to third-party requests and how any planned enhancements may prevent future unauthorized disclosures,” an announcement said.

The IG further  is inviting postal employees to tell it about any situations in which their own information as improperly released, aside from the government-wide breaches of OPM personnel file and background investigation databases.
