The Postal Service has reached an agreement with Amazon to deliver its packages on Sunday – moving in the opposite direction of its earlier proposal, not approved by Congress, for a schedule that would eliminate Saturday delivery except for packages.


USPS has identified package delivery as a profitable area where it wants to expand and compete with companies such as FedEx and UPS (which don’t deliver on Sundays). The Postal Service’s package business has grown roughly 15 percent in the past two years as its first class mail volume has continued to decline.
