The House has passed HR-247, to expand and put into law a GSA policy allowing federal employees on official travel to be reimbursed for using ride-sharing services, while HR-336, introduced with bipartisan support, would make those who use such services for regular commuting eligible for transit subsidies such as those commonly available for taking public transit. The latter bill would apply only in the national capital area but would set a precedent for wider application. Also introduced was S-29, to provide disabled law enforcement officers, firefighters, air traffic controllers and certain other categories with the same retirement benefits they would have received otherwise.
