The lodgings portion of per diem rates for federal employees traveling on official business will remain frozen in fiscal 2022 at current levels but meals rates for some destinations will increase effective October 1, GSA has said.
Lodgings rates vary for more than 300 destinations and for some of those rates vary seasonally, as well. That is especially common for the largest cities and for some destinations with seasonal attractions; the highest daily lodging rates, around $400, apply in-season at several destinations near ski resorts.
For other destinations, a flat $96 daily lodging rate applies.
The “meals and incidental expenses” portion of per diem for destinations with specific rates will range in fiscal 2022 from $59 to $79, up from the current $56-$76, while the standard “M&IE” rate for other destinations will increase to $59 from $55.
