One item that civil service leaders want to move this year, correcting the problem of employees enrolled in the wrong retirement system, has made no progress to date. Both the House and Senate last year passed bills (HR-416 and S-1232) to address that problem, which involves an estimated 20,000 people, about half of whom are not believed to be retired. In most cases the error was putting someone in the civil service retirement system (CSRS) who should have been in the newer federal employees retirement system (FERS).
