OPM has issued a reminder to federal agencies and employees regarding the government’s policies and resources related to sexual assault and other violent behavior, adding that agencies “should continue to build on these important efforts and existing policies.”

“As the largest employer in the nation, the federal government has a duty to promote the health and safety of its employees by providing support and assistance to those whose working lives are affected by sexual assault,” it said in an online posting

It pointed to agency employee assistance plans, which offer information, resources and counseling for victims; the OPM guide titled Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking in the Workplace; and free online training for use government-wide on matters including possible signs and symptoms, the importance of maintaining confidentiality in the workplace, and identifying the internal and external resources available to assist employees and managers.
