Best retirement approach for FERS and National Guard combined?

I want to double dip on my retirement. I have 19 total good years towards my military retirement and I am a current VA employee as of 2009. I was told to buy back my 7 plus years of active duty military time to use in my FERS retirement, which I did. What’s a good way to combine these?

You can only make a deposit for your active duty time, per your question, which you say you did. Those 7 years now add to your FERS time making your service computation date around 2002 instead of 2009. So these 7 years will count towards FERS because of the deposit, will count towards your retired military pay and will count towards your Social Security benefit. They will all be separate retirements.
