When calculating how SL is credited when an employee retires, does the government round up? Thus, if one has 29.6 days left, will the government round up to 30 days, so the employee gets credit for an extra month, or are all the 29.6 days of SL just forfeited? Blocked by moderator

The simple answer is yes, they round up hours. However, it is not as simple as that. The way it works is you take your retirement service computation date and subtract that from your retirement date. That will tell us your years, months, and days of service credit. You then add to that your total sick leave available on your retirement date and add that to your total retirement service. Once you have done that, any odd days are not used in the computation of your retirement as retirements are only calculated on full years and full months of service.
