Federal Manager's Daily Report

Public discontent with the federal government as a whole waned earlier this year but has climbed back up, according to a recent survey of 1,500 adults in mid August, conducted by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press.

It said 86 percent feel they are either frustrated or angry with the federal government, while just 11 percent say they are content – the lowest percentage since Pew began tracking responses to that question in 1997.

The discontent crosses political boundaries, including among independents, 30 percent of whom report being angry with the federal government.

Public trust in the government also has taken a hit, with 80 percent of respondents saying they trust the government to do what is “right” only some of the time, or never.
