Although other organizations cater to the widows of commissioned officers, the Air Force Enlisted Village is unique in its mission to support the enlisted corps. Furthermore, the AFEV’s 80-acre campus, located near Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., hosts widows from all five services in both independent and assisted living apartments. The AFEV is one of the four official charities of the Air Force. Donations from Air Force Airmen subsidize Air Force widows who might need financial assistance. Although widows from all services are accepted, those from other services are not eligible for the Air Force subsidy.
