Air Force Picks MA, CA for New Fighter Stations

The Air Force has selected the locations at which its newest generation of fighters will be stationed. The next F-35A Lightning II squadron will be located at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.

Aging F-15C/D Eagle fighters will be replaced by F-15EX Strike Eagles at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base New Orleans and Fresno Air National Guard Base, California.

Each base will receive 18 aircraft. The Air Force made the decision after conducting assessments of each site’s ability to meet infrastructure capacity needs, community support, costs and environmental factors.
