President Trump has nominated Patrick M. Shanahan to serve as deputy defense secretary. If confirmed, Shanahan would succeed outgoing Bob Work. Shanahan now is Boeing Company’s senior vice president for supply chain and operations. The Pentagon also announced several other nominations to fill civilian leadership positions:
* Robert Daigle, director of cost assessment and program evaluation
* Elaine McCusker, principal deputy undersecretary of defense, comptroller
* David L. Norquist, undersecretary of defense, comptroller
* Kenneth P. Rapuano, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and global security
* David Joel Trachtenberg, principal deputy undersecretary of defense for policy
