Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced a series of moves for Marine Corps leadership June 7. The nominations are subject to approval by the Senate.

•      Lt. Gen. Glenn M. Walters would receive a fourth star and become assistant commandant. He now serves as deputy commandant for programs and resources.

•      Maj. Gen. Lewis A Craparotta would receive a third star and become commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force. He now serves as commander of Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command and Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms, Calif.

•      Maj. Gen. Joseph L. Osterman would receive a third star and become deputy commander of U.S. Special Operations Command. He now serves as commander of U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

•      Maj. Gen. Gary L. Thomas would receive a third star and become deputy commandant for programs and resources. He now serves as commander of 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.
