Marine Corps Mark Thompson, a former history professor at the Naval Academy, will face court martial stemming from allegations that he had sex with two midshipmen and then lied when confronted with it. Stars and Stripes reported June 21 that Thompson is being charged with making a false statement and conduct unbecoming of an officer. News reports described Thompson’s efforts to clear his name. In April, after a board had cleared him, the Washington Post published new information that contradicted his contention of innocence. The Marine Corps launched a new probe based on that report.
