The Obama administration has submitted a request of $182.3 to fund the Department of Veterans Affairs in fiscal year 2017 (Oct. 1, 2016-Sept. 30, 2017). The request includes $68.6 billion for health care, several provisions aimed at expanding veterans’ access and claims-processing efficiency, $1.6 billion to end homelessness, and $23 million to enhance the oversight capabilities of the VA inspector general’s office. The administration also asked Congress to approve advance appropriations for fiscal year 2018, which include $66.4 for medical care.
