Hospital Bombing Not Deemed a War Crime

The Pentagon has determined that the bombing of a hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan, operated by Doctors Without Borders was a “tragic accident,” but no war crime, BBC reported April 29. The attack, which killed 42 people, was the culmination of a series of human and technical errors, a senior Pentagon official told BBC. Sixteen U.S. service members were punished for their roles in the action. The punishments included suspension from command and letters of reprimand, BBC reported.
